Kim Bacon began her career in the 1980s with Toni&Guy, rising to become their Chemical Artistic Director by 1993. She’s taught hair color theory internationally and has trained with industry icons like Vidal Sassoon’s Rodger Thompson, Paul Mitchell, and Anthony Mascolo. Kim opened her first salon, The Velvet Chair, in Dallas in 1997 and later worked on Chicago’s Michigan Avenue. With over 20 years specializing exclusively in hair color, she brings an artist’s eye to every client. Her work has been featured in Allure, Elle, and Hairstyles, among others. Kim draws constant inspiration from art, fashion, and music.

I have been a hairdresser in Austin for 30 years. Everything Color, Blonde, and haircuts are my specialty; I love to treat each appointment as a unique experience! Between your ideas for your hair and my intuitive vision and experience, I know we can create something you will love! Whether you want a small change or something drastic, we can work together to make it happen. I will always consult with you as if it was your first time to see me because people change, hair changes, moods, and fashion change. Color and cuts are a shared experience, and that's how i gain trust with my clientele.
My History
I started the Hair and Makeup team for the Austin Film Hall Of Fame awards show 20+ years ago. I have been blessed to experience and pioneer different avenues with Hair as my specialty! These include Hair and makeup for Starz, Print Work, Austin RunWay for Tribeza, UT fashion shows, Small Films, Commercials, Magazines, etc. I have practiced under and worked with some pretty exceptionally talented people and have therefore learned and kept up with the ever-changing new trends in the world of hair. I continue to advance my career as often as possible with numerous Cutting, Color, and Balayage techniques, traveling between Austin and California for classes. I find people very interesting, and I'm always excited to be a part of making happy changes. Hair changes can be exciting!! The idea is for you to feel better about yourself on the way out of the salon than you did. Hairdressers have a unique style; you must find the perfect fit for YOU.
